Good to Know
-
Book online through our reservation page (tap “Book Here” at the top of any page). Tables open 7 days ahead on a rolling basis, right down to the minute, so a 7pm Saturday table opens at 7pm the Saturday before. Online booking takes parties of up to 6. Prefer the phone? Call us at (612) 217-4739 during service and we’ll book you from the same list.
-
If the booking page shows nothing, that night is truly full. We don’t hold tables back. Set a “Notify me” alert on the reservation page for your date (open tables go fast, so tap the text right away), try a Tuesday or Wednesday, or come in as a walk-in.
-
Yes! Our 6 bar seats are always saved for walk-ins, and any open tables or sushi bar seats go first come, first served. Weekends get busy, so a reservation is the safest bet for a table.
-
Yes, our 8-seat sushi bar is reservable. Add the request to your reservation notes and we’ll do our best, though we can’t guarantee it. Our 6-seat bar is walk-in only.
-
Every reservation is a two-hour table. If you’re running late, call or text us at (612) 217-4739 so we can plan around you. Without a heads up, we hold tables for 10 minutes past the reservation time, and a later start still ends at the two-hour mark.
-
Of course. Use the link in your confirmation, or call or email us and we’ll update it for you. Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel so someone else can enjoy the table.
-
Dinner Tuesday through Saturday, 5 to 10pm, with the last reservation at 9pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. For the holidays, we’re closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, and open for regular dinner on New Year’s Eve.
-
Right now we take reservations for up to 6 guests. Larger groups are by special arrangement only, so email hello@sushibybaaska.com with your date, time and group size and our team will be in touch.
-
We love a celebration! Add the occasion to your reservation notes so the team knows before you sit down. You’re welcome to bring your own cake or dessert. There’s a $10 per person cake-cutting fee, and we’ll take care of plating and serving it.
-
Yes! We have a private dining room and also do full and partial buyouts. Every event is planned personally, case by case, so email hello@sushibybaaska.com with your date, headcount and type of event to start the conversation. We’re not doing off-site catering or sushi classes right now.
-
Sushi with modern twists: rolls, nigiri and sashimi, rice bowls and crudo, plus hot plates like karaage, gyoza, a wagyu sando, Chef E’s uni pasta and steak frites. The menu moves with the fish we get in, so ask your server what’s best that night.
-
Small plates start around $7 to $15, most rolls run $10 to $25, and larger plates are $28 to $60. With drinks, most guests spend around $100 per person.
-
We take every allergy seriously. Please tell your server about every allergy before you start ordering (noting it on your reservation helps too), and they’ll walk you through the menu with the kitchen. We share one kitchen, so we can’t guarantee any dish is completely free of traces.
-
Yes, most of the menu is gluten-free or can be made that way. Our table soy and house sauces are tamari, and gluten-free fried items have their own fryer. Let your server know and they’ll point you to everything that works.
-
We’ve got you. There are vegetarian dishes like edamame and veggie gyoza, and the kitchen can make other dishes vegan. For anyone skipping raw fish, there are plenty of cooked plates, like karaage, gyoza, pan-seared salmon, wagyu fried rice, the wagyu sando and steak frites.
-
We pour sake, beer, wine and spirits. Our sake comes from small family breweries, so ask us for the stories behind each bottle. Our nitro tap drinks are zero-proof by default (try Baaska’s Yuzu Limeade or one of our fruity, creamy and delicious Calpico Bobas), and you can add a spirit to any of them.
-
Yes. There’s a $50 bottle service fee per bottle, and we’ll take care of chilling, opening and pouring. We’d also love to show you our sake list while you’re here!
-
We’re at 602 Washington Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55415, on the ground floor of the Ellory building (the old Zenbox space). There’s street parking on Washington Ave and nearby streets, plus a parking ramp right across the street.
-
No dress code. Come as you are! Families are welcome, and we have high chairs and booster seats. Just note how many you need on your reservation.
-
Yes, our entrance is step-free and our restroom is accessible. Let us know on your reservation if anything else would make your visit easier. Service animals are always welcome. Pets can’t come inside per health code, but good news: our patio opens next year and it will be pet-friendly.
-
We take cards and cash, and we’re happy to split checks.
-
We’re dine-in only, with no takeout or delivery. E-gift cards are available online right now at sushibybaaska.com, and physical gift cards are coming to the restaurant soon.
-
Call us at (612) 217-4739 with a description of the item and your name and number. We’ll check and call you back the same day. Lost items are held for one week.
